The description specifies compatibility with Mac Book Pro, however the cable is the 60W version, not the 85W version. Thus, it with either charge or power the Mac Book Pro, but may be insufficient wattage to do both. Unfortunately there is no good way to tell the difference until you go through the trouble of repairing your existing magsafe 2 charger. Very disappointed.

I buy these "regularly", because they are cheaper (and less wasteful) than buying an all-new power supply, but the wire is smaller gauge and the pins are less hefty than the OEM cable, so these don't seem to last as long. I have a 2013 15" MPB, which draws a bit more power than other models. One thing I would recommend: replace (or clean very very well) your DC-in board on the computer. The part is cheap, but it is a medium-hard task to install (you have to be comfortable with taking the very delicate guts of your laptop apart). If you don't clean/replace that, then this cable will not last very long.

9/1/2019 UpdateOne of the two I purchased failed within 3 months. While charging, the magsafe end got extremely hot, enough to hurt when I touched it. The other one is still works but now I watch its temp to make sure it doesn't damage the laptop or cause a fire. Will probably purchase new Apple charger instead of always wondering.Original ReviewBought and installed 2. Fit perfectly. Cable has quality feel, nicer than original Apple cable. Wire ends were pre tinned which made soldering simple. Only negative is the MagSafe led is unreliable. Plugging in the cable always charges my MacBook but sometimes the led lights, sometimes it doesn’t. Unplugging and replugging usually fixes it.

Had a bunch of old laptop (Lenovo) power adapters laying around. Just snipped the two wires, removed the old connector, soldered the ends of this cable, covered with some electrical tape and voila! now I have 4 chargers for a fraction of the price of just one official apple charger. Just make sure of the voltage and amp rating matches (amp can exceed) of your old adapter to what the Mac one needs. The make of this cable is practically the same at the original. Good deal!

After some research, I discovered the charge circuit is built into the end of the Magsafe connector. For a long time I wanted to build a battery pack to charge my laptop while off the grid. This is what I needed! Comes with flying leads out the tail end. Works exactly as I had hoped.

Works great so far. My original cable stopped working, something happened inside the little connector and fried it. I cut the cable in half, and used electrical tape to connect this cable instead. Works like a charm. Saves you $100 for a new charger...

The construction of the cable is similar to the Apple one but it appears to use about half as much copper and twice as much plastic. The MagSafe end looks sturdy enough so far.

For a short time my daughter had a rabbit that loved to chew the recharging cord. The difference in price of a whole new charger and just the cord was incredible. They are very easy to install and work like a champ. If I ever need another I'll certainly buy it here.

I just replaced the cord for my magsafe 2 charger. It was not pretty, and I made a small crack in my magsafe case while prying it apart; but in the end, the repair was successful. One review mentions that this may not be compatible with the 85W block, but I have not noticed any difference in charging between the replacement cord and the OEM. I am ordering a 2nd one for another block that has developed a short.

Seems to be of good quality. I was able to solder the cable into my charger and the cable fit the charger with no problems. Much cheaper than buying a new apple charger and I do not trust the "knockoff" chargers that are sold cheap. I once bought a "cheap" charger and it blew my Macbook...

Give this a try before you buy a new charger

The product works but the magnet is not as strong and keeps falling off. Magnet is not too bad but definitely not as strong as the original one and have to keep it aligned all the time.
