Fixed my F150 heat soak
I was struggling with hard starts on my F150 after short stops for gas or errands. Did some reading on forums and got me looking at the heat soak thread. I decided to order this heat shield which fit perfectly and has made a considerable improvement for my starting problems. This was super easy to install, and was well worth the money. Highly recommend for preventative care of your starter or anything else. My only wish is that it would come with a sticker!

Great Product
This is a great heat shield, however, I was not able to use it because there was not enough clearance around starter to install shield. Had to return.

Works as designed! Keeps your starter from being roasted alive by exhaust headers
This installs in about the same time it takes to eat a Snickers bar. Velcro to the rescue. If putting on exhaust headers, or if your exhaust runs too close to the starter, this blanket will keep the starter and the wires to it from melting from the radiant heat.

Decent but less than perfect quick solution for my application
Works very well for an "instant solution" type product. After about a season the foil begins to fall apart as it's very thin and flimsy. You could stick your own foil but that's sort of a pain. Anyway it works very well until it falls apart. I have two of them already and plan to stick on some of my own foil to get some more life out of them. The Velcro is pretty cool. I use them during autocross to prevent exhaust manifold & CAT temps from super-heating my intake tube leading to the throttle body. It helps to reflect a lot of the radiant heat and also deflects the hot air rising up from below. I've been too lazy to actually create a custom wrap for the intake so this has been a good stopgap solution. Spraying the material with water cools a little more but I suspect that this has helped to separate the foil even faster. DEI makes some pretty useful stuff and this is no exception. It's a little over-priced IMHO LOL.

Had starter heat soak and thought this may solve it
I had recently purchased a hot rod with shorty headers which run right next to the stock GM starter and solenoid. When I ran the car for a spell and shut it off it would not start until it cooled down for about an hour or so. No short trips! I purchased this to wrap the starter and see if it would help with the heat soak. Turns out it didn't help and I went with a high torque mini starter. Worth a try. Not a bad product but perhaps would have worked if there were a bit more space for air flow.

good fit
solidly made so i can keep my starter from getting heat soaked. fit pretty well around my stock ac delco reman starter and solenoid. and if you know, these starters are huge.

Beware - Wrap is Conductive, need to keep clear of electrical connections
A warning that the entire wrap is conductive would have saved me a new starter solenoid. The wrap contacted the starter connections and caused a short. No information anywhere on the package or instructions to warn against this. Otherwise, the wrap works great against starter heat soak.

Hot Idea!!
This worked perfect on a mini high torque starter , well made , has Velcro that is very strong but I also used 2 big wire ties. Does the job
