Hum no more!
Outside AC condenser unit was humming while off. So, it's either this or the contactor. I replaced both. Mystery solved and a perfect fit.

Have an old AC
My AC is from 1976. So finding the right parts are getting tough. I get a new one every few years. Why, they don’t make AC units like the old ones. Mine is still going very strong other then a hiccup cap or relay. We are on the end of the power line that is nine houses long. So we get surges a lot during weather changes. We think the smaller surges get by and over time we lose the capacitor and or relay. Hope this helps.

It was what it said it was
I ordered this Hoping it solved my problem. It didn't. I left it on and ordered something else which fixed my issue. Now the fan motor comes on.

I always try replacing the capacitor before calling the repairman.
The fan on my A/C stopped spinning which indicated that the capacitor was bad since it's the capacitor that starts both the fan and the compressor. I ordered this capacitor, which is the correct replacement for the bad one in my system, installed it and my A/C was up and running again. This is the second time I've replaced the capacitor on my ancient system and twice I replaced the furnace sequencer switch. It might be time to replace my 30+ years old system, but until I do I can replace the capacitor. If this particular capacitor meets your needs then go for it. Just make sure the specs match up to the old one in your system. A $20 capacitor is much easier on the wallet than having to buy an entirely new system or just calling the repairman.
