This is the perfect book to learn to embroider.

I ordered this book "Embroidery: The Ideal Guide to Stitching," because I needed a refresher in all the different stitches I learned when I was 10 years old. Now I'm 72, so I had forgotten most of them. This is the perfect book to learn to embroider. It didn't take me long to relearn all the stitches I had forgotten and I also learned some new stitches. Great book. Get yours today, it's well worth the money.

Lives up to the hype

Excellent book for someone just starting out or someone trying to remember how to do some of the more complicated techniques they've only done once or twice. Great illustrations and easy to follow instructions, the kids and I love just looking through and finding stitches we like to practice or use in a design. The book is colorful, well-organized, fun to look through, and has great pictures and directions. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to start embroidery or bolster their skill set.

Good to get you started

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because you may need to go to YouTube for further explanations. It has pretty clear instructions and has a wonderful legend by every stitch to tell you the best application for that particular stitch (outlines, fill stitches, leaves, letters). The Turkey Stitch is categorized under the section of Needlepoint stitches (a 3D stitch made with loops, looking like shag rug once you trim it). Always practice a new stitch first on a scrap piece of fabric.
