It's a long ordeal but it's worth it if it you're favorite and Expensive and Irreplaceable coat or jacket!!!! I nearly fainted during the processes but Reading All The Very Valuable and Very Detailed & Informative Reviews & Instructions - Saved My $300 dollar Down Parka - It cleaned 15 years of abuse, every stain, renewed my waterproofing, Protected my Down, took out Ground in sunscreen & Dirt - and It Looked - I swear - BRAND NEW!THEY HAVE ALOT OF PRODUCTS - READ AND CHOOSE WISELY - THEY ARE VERY Specific - they are formulated just right - Choose the product that Matches your Coat BEST.And Most Importantly TAKE CAREFUL DETAILED NOTES - NOTE THE TIMES YOU SOAK etc,, - EVERY DETAIL IS IMPORTANT- READ & WRITE THEM DOWN & FOLLOW THEM - THERE WILL BE MANY STEPS - YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE A TIMER, A PEN & YOUR NOTES WITH YOU. I USED A PLASTIC LONG TUBE Container THAT FIT MY BATH TUB. I also bought the 6 Giant Wool Ball for the Dryer Part - It took about 4 hrs with no heat to dry and about 3 Hours to Fluff & restore my Down Filling - But Came Back Beautifully!I have had BAD Professional Laundry Experiences with leather jacket & expensive & irreplaceable coats & jackets, This Works!

This wash is magical. It refreshed an old lightweight rain layer that had been “wetting out” and seemed hopeless, but now works just like new! Totally worth it. For anyone else using apartment or shared laundry with a locking lid and limited options, this wash still works if you need to put it in the basin before the water. It’s not recommended as per the directions but my gear came out fine. Really happy with this product and will absolutely get it again even though I used half the container for one load (4 items).

I had hit bad weather the last two camping trips i was on and it rained almost the entire time so needless to say all of my gear was not only soaked but a muddy mess. I normally just hose things off and let them dry and wash them off gently with a sponge but that was not working this time and i wanted to use something that would not affect the waterproof coating and properties of these items so i purchases this to wash my tent, backpack, and all my other waterproof gear with. This stuff worked very well. Its not to harsh but just enough to get the mud and some of the dirt buildup that i didn't want to scrub off harshly from my tent. And as far as i can tell all of my gear is retaining its waterproof capabilities.

I have several Gore-Tex garments and I have noticed in the past couple of years that 2 of them are losing their DWR coating resulting in "wet out" and making me feel wet an clammy in the the jacket. I was aware that this is an issue in these expensive pieces but had not heard of NIKWAX until just a few days ago. I ordered this product, received it yesterday, proceeded to launder 4 of my expensive outer ware pieces and today..... we had rain. Well, I couldn't wait to go outside and see if this stuff delivered what it said it would. Gladly I am very happy to say, it worked amazing. My LL Bean rain jacket that 3 days ago beaded no water, beaded like the day I first wore it in the rain over 5 years ago. Not only that, but after washing it , the jacket looked great, in fact all the jackets I washed came out looking like the day I bought them. I love these high tech fabrics as they work in all weather and their breathability has always been a key for me. Nikwax worked like magic, their DWR seems to be renewed and the jackets look great. My only negative comment and it's a small one is that this product has a funky smell while in the wash, but after drying on low, I really can't smell it anymore. I am pleased as punch to have bough this and will be ordering more to keep on hand. I just spoke to a good friend in the UK and he said, "oh yeah, I've used if for years" to which I said, "why didn't you tell me about such an amazing product" Anyway, if you own any gore-tex stuff, get this, you won't be disappointed.

I was needing to clean two North Face backpacks we have had for 10 years. After some research, this product repeatedly came up as a good solution, so I gave it a shot. I put the backpacks in the tub, barely covered them with water, and added half the bottle of solution. It immediately went to work and with barely any agitation the water showed its results. For some stubborn areas, I used a brush and everything came out easily. The scent helped freshen up everything even further. In the end, these backpacks came out good as new. In fact, my wife changed her mind about wanting to replace her bag. I figure this product would work as intended with all sorts of outdoor gear, especially on hydrophobic rain gear.

Works well for my ski jackets and pants. Great value, helps clothing keep water resistant properties. Easy to use in washer, no smell either which is nice

This product is very good! I gave it 3 stars because again one of the bottles leaked half the contents....I'm done, I'll go to REI next time and pay a $1 more at least I'll have all in the bottle.....

I have been using this tec wash for years. It works great at cleaning your tech gear without removing the DWR (durable water repellent) as regular laundry detergent will do with a single wash. If you did wash an item with regular detergent, all is not lost— they make other products for restoring the DWR back onto your product.
