While I did mess up my speaker choice for these, the speaker hole is 4" and the rs100-4 speakers fit inside of a 3" hole, I made the best of it with a 3" hole saw and filled the speaker hole with a passive radiator pointing up, and plugged the port hole with a 1 5/8" drain plug from Home Depot. The speaker wires feed into the bottom and the box is raised with stick on rubber feet. They actually sounds great for what they are...It would be nice if they offered these with a 3" hole, they would probably sell.

Meh - terrible resonances from the box -- not enough baffling. Cheap wood will split with wood screws. If you predrill, should be okay. If all you need is a pre-made box and don't care about sound or looks, these will suffice.

Suited it's purpose, gave me a portable good sounding cab for my mini tube head. The only complaints I have to say is the thumb tacks aren't strong enough for the wood. I jammed in there. I'll probably order something that works better like screw caps and maybe a nicer material for the front.

I was fairly satisfied with this project. I have this 6 1/2 inch Sony Xplod door speaker sitting in a box. It's about 25 years old, from an old car of mine, and I thought it would be fun to make my own shelf speaker. I stained the box (which was the most time consuming step), then I pre-drilled (with a small bit) where I wanted my holes to go (use a pencil to mark your holes). Do NOT power screw your hardware or else you WILL get too enthusiastic and potentially crack your wood. SCREWDRIVER. I skipped the provided hardware and used my own (small 1/2 inch wood screws for the speaker and terminal switchplate, and 1 inch thin wood screws for the cover. But SCREWDRIVER, by hand! Enjoy.

The front of the enclosure arrived with a crack from the speaker mounting hole to the bottom of the board. This looks and feels more like a toy than a piece of audio equipment. The enclosure does not have a large enough volume or porthole unless you are JUST wanting some SUBTLE bass out of a low powered bookshelf system or the like. If you crank it up too high the thing sounds like you are lighting fireworks in a tin can and the air movement through the very small porthole sputters aggressively. The plastic insert for the porthole is also EXTREMELY thin and flimsy, definitely less than 1mm thick.

I am in the process of assembling a backup bass amp/preamp system to leave at my partner's house so I don't have to schlep any more stuff than I have to (we alternate rehearsals at our respective houses).I bought a Schoeder 10L lightweight 10" speaker and planned to use this 8" box as a mid-range bass speaker along with the Schroeder.It was very easy to "assemble" the box. I have done enough woodworking projects to know that it's generally a good idea to drill "starter" holes for the various screws. Doing so usually avoids accidentally splitting the wood, especially on lightweight woods, of which this box is certainly constructed.Other than that, there were no issues in assembly. I glued the insulation in place which kept it from getting caught in the drill bit while drilling the various speaker mounting pilot holes.They provided all the necessary hardware which was nice, even throwing in a few extra screws.My sole criticism is that the box was over-priced for its material and size, but I am finding that is generally true for just about every speaker box I have looked at in the last few years. It could be the increased cost of wood and the increased tariffs for foreign goods.Other than that, it sounds good and should last a long time.I don't agree with any of the negative reviews that criticize the quality. I think for the price, it is of sufficiently high quality for the purpose intended. I would certainly buy another one if I needed another small 8" enclosure.

Good box for what it is. 200rms 6.5 bayma. Very much punchy. Looks good, could use some rhino liner paint or something diy to the box. Fits in vehicle well. Value, well a bit cheap. Material did split eventually.

Box cracked trying to install screws
