Vital for cats with pale skin and fur
Cats with pale ears can and do get skin cancer on these delicate areas. I’ve known several cats who’ve had to have their ears amputated, because of skin cancer. You must protect sensitive areas. My cat is white and as you can see in the photos, she has white skin around her ear and very thin hair on the outside of her ears. I will not allow her outside without this sunscreen. I used it on another cat, a tortoiseshell who again had very thin hair on her ears.First of all, safety. You MUST NOT use human sunscreen on cats. Cats are extremely sensitive to chemicals and they could die. The other non clear version of this is ok, but you have to be very careful, this clear version is the safest. This also contains something that makes it taste horrible. Do check with your vet, particularly if your cat has any allergies or kidney or liver issues. With either Aniwell sunscreen you need to give it a chance to dry before your cat tries to wash it off. This is important. Either hold them or distract them for a few minutes, once it’s dried it’s much safer. It’s clear when dried. It’s the consumption of the product that’s dangerous. This clear version goes on white, so you can see what you’re doing. With white and pink ears apply over the exterior and interior parts of the ear. Don’t go into the ear, just the inside ear bit, it that makes sense. Don’t forget to pop some on that funny fold on the edge of the ear. I find it easier to squeeze a bit of the cream on the nearest finger to my thumb, then, push my thumb into it, so it’s coated too. Then you can do the inside and outside of the ear at the same time. You don’t need masses, just enough to cover the area.Once a day should be sufficient, if you can it’s still advisable to keep them in at the ‘mad dogs and English men’ time of day, i.e. the hottest around 12.00 to 2/3.00, but the cream should provide the required protection.Every 4 days you need to wash the cream off, a cotton pad does the trick, then allow to dry before you use the product again. It’s also suitable for other animals, but read the information on the Anniwell website and check with your vet.

Good product
This really is very difficult to get off your cat's skin once it is on there - even after 3 days of it being on there. I suppose that is good in some ways, but not in others. You have to rub fair bit to get it off, which might potentially cause soreness to the cats ears. I have not noticed particularly that it stops my cat getting sunburnt on her pale ears, but the fact that I haven't noticed any sunburn on her ears whilst using it must mean it's working. And hopefully it will stop skin cancers developing on her ears.

Worked a treat
After my cat had an accident, he finished up having to have part of his ear removed. After a month inside with a collar on after he'd scratched the rest of his ear and wrecked it, he was let outside into sunny weather. Fortunately I'd realised that he might get sunburn on his now bare of fur ear.It has worked very well, no redness at all, I think he did try to get off the first time, realised what it tasted like (intentionally to put them off) and deposited it on the top of his head. There has been no trouble with that since and it is still healing nicely. Works like a second skin, disappears after a short time so doesn't look odd on his ear. After application over three days I wash off ready for the fourth day.Very pleased with the outcome and highly recommended..

Seems to work, stays on.
It is hard to be certain, but it seems to work on our cat's pink ears which have only thin white fur and which were suffering from the sun. They look less red now. Putting it on the little princess is not the easiest thing, one of us holds, the other tries to aim for the ears while they move around with surprising agility. Once on it seems to stay there even for a few days. It contains bitrex which tastes bitter (surprise) and deters the inevitable ear washing. Obviously, it is not needed all the time, only for sunny days in mid summer.

Not keen
I brought this for my skin allergy dog and I use the other more powdery cream already. I found this version too runny and don't believe for my dog that there was any improvement. Worth a try though. I thought it was more of a gel when reading another review.

Works well and no issues with allergic reactions for our cat.

Not good please read before buying
I wouldn’t give this any starts but had to give it one to post this review. I used this once and had to seek vet help as it made one of cats ears red and sore and it took all the fur off my other cats ears I wouldn’t recommend this for cats or dogs I would never use again and wouldn’t trust any sun cream now
