We have had customers who purchased the adapter by accident have found that a female-USB-C to male USB-A adapter would work well with the adapter and can still mount it to the vent underneath the iMac (https://www.amazon.co.uk/MyArmor-Adapter-Macbook-ChromeBook-CFM-3-0M/dp/B01J16IOIS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1540835276&sr=8-4&keywords=usb-c+female+adapter).
