The instructions inside the book could use clarifying and more detail.

This book is an excellent introduction to acrylic painting and introduction to all the gels, pastes, and mediums currently available. It does focus on Golden products, but these are highly respected by artists, and are considered the best there is, so I see no problem with that. But the book is very well written, and its presentation of techniques and materials is done with care and thought.

Like book as I am a Newbie and easy tofollow

It's a little hard to grasp certain techniques shown in book, but if one can, there are some exciting techniques to use.

I have read some of the other reviews and agree that it is basically a promotion for Golden products. But, I keep the book by my pallet and refer to it often. She did a great job explaining how to do things and the differences between certain products.

good info about mediums and experimental techniques. not good for traditional painting techniques, excellent technical info about paints and materials.

Love her technique and this book got me back to painting, one painting a day... hard but that's the only way I learn.

Mostly an advertisement for the use of Acrylics. Not as many demonstrations as I would like to see.

Well written and illustrated and full of ideas, but note this book should have been entitled How to use Golden acrylic paints and mediums. Golden products feature on every page except the front cover, which is misleading especially as the Amazon description doesn't mention Golden either.

What a great book. It is a comprehensive guide to using acrylics and various gels and mediums.

De Patti Mollica, je possède déjà deux petits ouvrages sur la peinture acrylique dont je ne me séparerai pas.Celui-là est, me semble-t'il le plus ancien en date de publication. Pour qui aborde le sujet, c'est un ouvrage qui peut servir à se faire une idée des possibiltés du medium. Mais n'espérez pas y trouver une méthode pour apprendre à peindre avec l'acrylique, il s'agit plutôt d'un intéressant aide-mémoire des innombrables possibilités offertes par ce type de peinture.Pour moi il complètera les deux autres pour me donner des idées et orienter mes recherches su l'Internet. Pour qui débute je suggérerai plutôt « Getting started » du même auteur et aussi « Color theory », tous deux excellents.Ce qui me gène (beaucoup !) dans celui-là c'est que c'est (aussi) un ouvrage de « publicité rédactionnelle » pour une (bonne mais chère en Europe) marque de peintures. Plusieurs citations et encarts au sujet de cette marque à chaque page. Même s'il n'est pas difficile de trouver les produits équivalents sous d'autres marques, voire sans marque, je trouve que c'est un procédé très désinvolte et malhonnête. Il aurait été fair play d'annoncer la... couleur sur la couverture ! J'ai beaucoup d'admiration pour la peinture et le sens pédagogique de Patti Mollica mais bon, là c'est très lourd...Je l'ai reçu ce matin et j'ai failli le renvoyer sur le champ. Mais bon, il contient quand même un peu d'information utile.

Peu d'interet, les utilisations de mediums sont celles que l'on peut lire sur les produits. On aurait aimé un contenu plus personnel de l'auteur.
