PSI Aqua Tally Swimming Lap Counter

This thing is great. No electronics at the pool. I typically wear paddles on my hands when swimming and it is easy to move the beads with the edge of the paddle. I do 50 yard sprints at a time. Move one bead. After 4 x 50 I move the white bead as well as the fourth blue bead--200 yards, ya. It is easy to track where I am at during my workout. Put it on top of your swim bag as the rod holding the beads isn't super thick and could get bent if smushed. Don't worry about the suction cups on the unit at the pool as most pool tile won't let them stick. It is heavy enough to just sit at the end of your lane. Free your mind from counting laps!

I love that this counter takes all the mental energy of keeping track of laps/time off my mind leaving me free to get in the zone and really focus on form and performance.It does take a beat to move the bead at the end of the lap, and probably wouldn’t work for people doing racing/flip turns. I took advice from another reviewer and put a thin strip of electrical tape on the metal rod to add a little friction and keep the beads from floating out of place. With that tweak it is great. My swims seem to fly by and I’ve improved my stroke efficiency. Never thought I could stand the boredom of more than 2 miles in a pool but am now up to 3.

It's nice to slide that bead over after doing a lap. It's nice not having to remember what lap you are on. It's nice knowing that if it gets wet, no big deal. It's nice that there are no batteries. I'm not a pro swimmer, but for the water walking back and forth, its nice to help you keep track instead of constantly thinking about what lap you are on. Turns out I'm really bad at counting, and this solves the problem. What do I want is I want it to be bigger. I also want the suction cups to work, but at the same time the small size makes it easy to pack. It was like 2 stars (slightly regrettable purchase) when I started using it, but after dealing with some more, it gained some credibility, and I like it more (4 stars - happy purchase)Bottom line, it needs to evolve yet, unfortunately, I don't know what that looks like.Here are the problems, it doesn't stick to the surface at our YMCA pool so I end up balancing it on something, this would be solved by having the ability to slide the suction cups left and right a bit to deal with the tile pattern, I end up on a grout crack with the one of the suction cups, if there was a spot around the pool that didn't have that pattern, I'd be set, but I haven't found it. Also, if I could move the suction cup over, that would solve it. Otherwise, some sort of waterproof bean bag bottom would probably be ideal, and I'm probably going to be doing that and then it's anchored and not washed away when somebody splashes the area. I could make that work. I'm happy with the purchase, it's just not easy to use. I want a bigger one, but don't need a bigger one. The bean bags on the bottom are going to be the answer for me, if it came with those, its a 5 star product, cause I could set it anywhere and then focus on swimming.

I just got back with lap swimming after a 10-year break and can no longer read my watch without glasses. So, a sports watch for counting laps just doesn't work for me anymore. This lap counter was exactly what I needed. It adheres well to the side of pool and frees me from counting laps in my head, giving me a stress-free swim. Thank you so much to the manufacturer!!

This was much smaller than I expected it to be, and it feels like a fairly cheap piece of plastic, but I find it actually fits my needs perfectly. It’s a brilliant idea for someone like me who cannot count laps! It helps motivate me to swim more laps, and it’s very easy to carry to/from the pool. The suction cups work well where I swim because it can sit horizontally on tile.

This was the best investment I ever made. It’s a motivator and a great way to meet people at my new gym. Everyone is curious and asks about it. My daughter uses it faithfully when she swims laps twice a week. (She has Down syndrome.) She swims 4 lengths of Free, and marks 4, & then does 4 Back stroke and then 4 Breast stroke & marks each 4. Repeats with Fins and keeps going. I had to give her mine, but it’s OK because I’m now doing Flipturns. We love it! Great conversation piece!

I wanted something to use to count laps when I swim. I didn't want something technical that required batteries or died if it fell in the water or got wet. This is perfect. Just slide the bead at the end of each lap. The beads are a bit smaller than I would like but I have gotten use to it now. This is the second one I bought as I dropped the first one and stepped on it bending the metal rod. While it was easy to fix I failed to notice one of the beads dropped off. My fault so I bought a new one. Love this simple solution!

The unit works as described, but the beads float, so I am unable to stick this to the wall under water. This means I have to break my flow to register my lap. For some, this won't be a big deal, but for me, this tinkers with my heart rate, meaning I end up slowing down, and reducing performance.Ie., for non-speed-sensitive applications this is good, but if you are looking to stay "noe-to-the-grind" in the water, something different is needed. I will return to my watch for now (even though it's hard to see, and I often end up resetting it).
